What you say, do, and put out into the world matters.
Our observable actions and words are the only things with which people can use to judge us an individuals. Thus, speak with care and realize that once you’ve spoken, people will take your words seriously. This is true no matter who you are.
I learned Tabula 5 through a mistake: when I first created my personal website, I wrote a satirical biography of myself. “Michael Bervell puts the pro in prodigy,” the bio screamed. I bit my cheek with laughter as I typed and published it on December 18, 2015.
No less than 6 months later, I realized that people who had not met me before thought this arrogant, joke website was real. This online persona was so different from who I was in reality that people were shocked by the difference in how I had put myself out to the world online versus who I actually was. Of course, there is a time and place for humor: but to determine when this is, one must speak and act conscientiously and with meaningful thought. We, like a spinning top, must strike a balance.
Every action we take matters, even if in the moment we do not think that it does. Speak and act conscientiously.
