Humans are a blank slate. At least that’s what philosophers such as Aristotle, John Locke, and Avicenna argue when they write about “Tabula Rasa.”
Under the viewpoint of "Tabula Rasa" (or the blank slate) we today are simply a complex sum of all of the experiences and environments that we have been exposed to in the past.
Supposing this is true, I wanted to reflect on my past to determine what is written on the "Tabula Rasa of Michael Bervell." Similar to the ten commandments from biblical times, I have created the 10 commandments of myself and described the experiences and people who helped me to create each of these commandments.
I call it, my Tabula 10: they are my maxims for life in 2020. You can read more in depth about each of these maxims by clicking below or tapping explore.
(1) Walk slowly.
(2) Become 1% better every day.
(3) Plant seeds, don't pick fruit.
(4) Create more than you consume.
(5) Speak and act conscientiously.
(6) Use hedgehog principles and fox tactics.
(7) Collect the dots, then connect the dots.
(8) Pronoia: assume best intent.
(9) The world is your classroom.
This project is part of my leadership portfolio for my Master in Communication at the University of Washington.
Hope you enjoy,
